Why Convert PNG Images to JPEG?

PNG files use lossless compression and can store transparency, but they can be large and slow to load. Converting to JPG cuts the file size and opens the image in any browser or app. Because JPG has no transparency, this PNG to JPG converter software fills see-through areas with white instead of the black background many tools produce.

Understanding JPG Quality Settings

When you convert PNG to JPG, the quality slider on the Convert tab runs from 1 to 100, starting at 90. Higher numbers keep more fine detail and produce bigger JPEG files; lower numbers discard more data. To meet a website's file size cap, switch the size unit on the Resize tab to KB and enter the limit. The program finds the highest quality that fits, up to 95, and shrinks the image dimensions only if quality alone can't meet the limit. Under Format options, choose Progressive JPEG to show a rough picture first as the file loads in a browser.
