MSG Viewer Software opens the .msg files Outlook creates on a Windows PC that has no Outlook, and gets the attachments out of them.
Read the .msg you receive with MSG Viewer Software:
MSG Viewer Software has its own reader for the Outlook message format and never calls Outlook or MAPI. It checks the file's contents: a .msg renamed to .dat still opens when you choose it directly, and an HTML document renamed to .msg opens as HTML.
Setup adds the program to Open with without changing your default for .msg. If you have Outlook, double-clicking still opens it. To use the program, right-click a file and choose Open with. Uninstalling removes that menu entry.
The program checks the attachment records stored in the .msg. If nothing is attached, Open attachments and Save attachments are grayed out.
Drag a folder onto the window, or use Add Folder... with Recurse subfolders on, to list every .msg file underneath. Files already listed are skipped, as are files in other formats.
Right-click a message and choose Save message as..., or press Ctrl+S. Pick one of three types. You save one message at a time.
The preselected type copies the original byte for byte, keeping every stored property. The copy reopens in Outlook as received.
For records you may need later, or a colleague who uses Outlook.
Conversion to EML carries over the full transport headers and every recipient. Nearly every non-Outlook client can load EML.
In some older non-Unicode messages, a subject written with raw 8-bit characters can be lost on the way. Check the subject line before you delete the original.
Save the cleaned-up body exactly as the preview pane displays it, ready for any browser.
Good for an intranet post or for someone who has nothing but a browser.
For PDFs or a whole folder converted in one pass, you'll need our MSG to PDF converter for whole folders.
Install MSG Viewer from the downloaded setup file. Click Open MSG file... to pick one or several messages, or drag a folder onto the window.
The list has columns for Subject, From, File name, Date and Size. To narrow it, type a word into the Search in box or pick a period under Date.
Click a message to read it in the preview, where scripts and remote pictures are blocked. Save attachments... in the message's context menu copies the files out, and Open attachments shows them without saving. Saved files carry the Windows mark for downloaded content.
Use Save message as... for a copy in the format you need, or Print... (Ctrl+P) for paper.
Clients and opposing counsel send .msg attachments, but your firm's PC may use a different mail program. Read each message, save its exhibits and file the original untouched.
A client sends the supplier's email as a file instead of the invoice. Open it and take out the PDF without asking for a resend.
Reception and kiosk machines rarely run a mail program at all. Staff can still view a .msg a visitor brings and print it for them.
The MSG Viewer free trial is the full program with one limit: how many messages each folder lists.
Everything beyond the 20th message stays out of the list, and one line in its place gives the folder's full count.
