Desktop converter that turns HEIC and HEIF photos from an iPhone into JPG on Windows, in batches, without uploading anything.
Download SoftOrbits HEIC to JPG Converter for Windows 10 or 11 and install it. The free trial runs the full workflow.
Drag a folder of HEICs and HEIFs into the program's window, or use the Add folder.
Choose JPG or PNG as an output format, set the JPEG quality. Enable resizing to downsize the source HEIFs. Then check the destination folder.
Click the Start button. You will found the resulting JPEGs at the output folder shortly.
HEIF keeps iPhone photos small, up to 50% lighter than the same JPEG. But a lot of Windows apps and photo editintools like Adobe Photoshop can not open it. Online tools can help you too.. but it will not process gygabytes of your images for free. A desktop converter has no daily or batch size limits.
It does few recurring jobs:
Point it at a folder and it converts every HEIC and HEIF inside, using all your CPU cores. No per-file clicking and no daily limit.
Set JPEG quality to trade detail against file size, or export PNG when you want a lossless copy. For PNG-first work there is a dedicated HEIC to PNG converter. Resize on the way out if the originals are heavy at 3024x4032.
Open HEIF files in the bundled viewer, rotate or crop before export, and rename copies by the date each photo was taken. A command line is there for scripted jobs.
You moved photos to a PC and Windows won't open the HEICs. Convert the lot to JPG once and they open everywhere.
You batch-prep product or social images and need them resized and in JPG, not a format half your tools reject.
You would rather script the conversion - a watch folder or a command-line call - than repeat a manual step every time.
