A .mbox file is one long text file holding every message of a folder written back to back, which is why Windows has no program registered for it and a double click only gets you the 'How do you want to open this file?' dialog. Pick a node and the right pane lists what that file holds. The columns are Subject, From, To, Date and Size. No index of its own is built, so what you read is the file itself, top to bottom.

Click a message and it renders as HTML. Tables, quoted replies and inline images survive instead of collapsing into a grey slab of text. The same renderer makes the PDF later, so what you see is what gets printed.
