How to delete pages from PDF with PDF Page Remover

Add your PDF files

Download the PDF Page Remover tool and install it. Click Add files or drag PDFs into the window. For a whole archive, use Add folder, which takes in its subfolders too. The list on the left shows File and Pages for every document.

Mark pages to delete on thumbnails

In Pick pages, select a file and click a page to mark it. Hold Shift for a range or Ctrl to add one more. You can also type into Pages to remove, for example 1-3, 7, 10-end, last 2. Double-click any page to see it large, then choose Remove this page or Keep this page.

Set one rule for many files

Switch to Batch rule. Under Remove in every file, tick Pages and type the numbers, or under Find automatically, tick Blank pages and Duplicate pages (keep the first). The Will remove and Result columns fill in before the run, so you can read 36 pages will be removed while nothing is written yet. Double-click a file to check it on thumbnails.

Save and check the result

Choose Save copies to or Replace originals, leave Make the file smaller ticked, and click Remove 36 pages in 8 files. The Done window says 36 pages removed from 8 files and lists every file with its pages, size and status. Click Open folder.

Every page on a thumbnail

Pick pages shows the document as a grid of page thumbnails. The Size slider has 9 steps, from a long report on one screen to large thumbnails, and a double-click shows any page big enough to read. Odd, Even, Select all and Invert set the marks in one click, and the status line keeps count, for example 6 marked, result: 18 pages.

Remove blank pages from PDF after a scan

A page counts as blank when it has no characters in the text layer and almost no ink on a 72 dpi image. The outer 4% of each side is ignored, so scanner edges don't count, and grey or yellowish paper is not taken for ink. For dusty scans, move slider from strict toward scans with specks.

Duplicate pages, first one kept

PDF Page Remover compares the text of pages and how they look. A sheet that went through the scanner twice is a duplicate. Two invoices from one template with different numbers are not. Pages without text are compared in 32x32 blocks at 100 dpi, with 2 px shift allowed.

Bookmarks and links fixed

A bookmark that pointed to a removed page moves to the next page that stays, or to the previous one when you cut the end of the file. Links to removed pages are taken out. Before the run you see a warning like 2 bookmarks point to removed pages. Form fields on the kept pages keep working.

The file gets smaller

Make the file smaller drops images and fonts that only the removed pages used, and the final report shows the size before and after. Kept pages are not turned into pictures, text stays searchable, and you can still copy it.

Extract pages into a new PDF

Mark pages in Pick pages and click Extract marked pages. From Report.pdf you get Report (pages 3-7).pdf among your other results, and the source stays as it was. In the other mode, tick Also save removed pages as PDF.

Is there a free PDF page remover?

How to delete pages from a PDF without Acrobat Pro?

Use a separate page remover. The free Acrobat Reader opens a PDF but cannot delete pages, only Acrobat Pro or Standard can. PDF Page Remover deletes and extracts pages by itself, Acrobat does not need to be installed.

How do I remove blank pages from PDF files?

Add the file or a whole folder, switch to Batch rule, and tick Blank pages under Find automatically. In Pick pages, the Blank pages button marks them. No blank page search is right 100% of the time, so look at the marked thumbnails first. A page with even one character in its text layer, such as a typed page number or OCR text, is not blank for the program.

Can I remove pages from PDF files offline, without uploading them?

Yes. All work happens on your computer, and the program makes no network calls while it removes pages. Its log keeps no file names or content and reaches us only if you send a report yourself.

Can I remove pages from many PDF files in one go?

Yes, that is what Batch rule is for. Add a folder and set the rule once. It can be page numbers like 1 and last, or blank pages and duplicates. Every Nth page works too. Protected files ask for the password once, and Try this password for other protected files saves typing it again.

What happens to bookmarks and links when I delete PDF pages?

In Pick pages, bookmarks are always fixed. In Batch rule, it is the Fix bookmarks and links box, on by default. Switch it off and a bookmark stays in the list but has no page to open. The report at the end says how many bookmarks were moved and how many dead links removed.

How do I extract pages from a PDF into a new file?

In Pick pages mark the pages or type 3-7 into the range box, then click Extract marked pages. Each source file gives its own new PDF. They are not merged into one. Extract is in Pick pages only.

Will my original file be changed, and can I undo it?

Not by default. Results go to Save copies to, a Clean folder next to the first file, and originals stay untouched. With Replace originals the old file goes to the Recycle Bin, so you can restore it from there. Each file is written to a temp copy first, so a crash halfway does not damage the source.

Why can't I delete pages from a PDF?

Most often the app you use is a PDF reader, not an editor, and a reader can't delete PDF pages. A password, a digital signature or a dynamic XFA form can block it too. This program asks for the password and warns you before it breaks a signature. Dynamic XFA forms it skips. It can't pick pages by a word inside them, you mark them by number or on thumbnails.
