AlarmFront - Central Station Alarm Monitoring Software

AlarmFront receives alarm signals from GSM modems, TCP/IP devices and COM port receivers on one Windows PC and hands each one to the operator with the object card and instructions.

AlarmFront is central station alarm monitoring software for your own Windows PC. Panels report through a GSM modem or over the network, and hardware receivers plug into a COM port. For fewer than 100 clients the minimum PC is an Atom or Celeron with 4 GB of RAM and a 64 GB disk.

How to download and use the AlarmFront central station software

Download, install and log in.
1

Download, install and log in

Download the AlarmFront installer and run it with administrator rights on the PC that stays on at the station. If your panels report over the network, choose Custom installation in setup and select Processing of data received over TCP/IP. Add antivirus exceptions and turn off Sleep and automatic Windows updates. On first start, the Login window asks for a user: enter Admin, leave Password empty and press Enter.

Connect a channel.
2

Connect a channel

Open Settings > Modem and add the modem. Set Port, Speed, PIN code and SMS Center Number. Press Check, then Get modem data. For a receiver or an IP panel, add the source on Settings > Data Sources instead, for example TCP/IP - Ademco Contact ID. The English Contact ID descriptions are already loaded. For another table, press Import ... on the Global Parameters tab.

Create the object card.
3

Create the object card

Click Add above the Objects list, next to Copy and Edit. For a CSV list, use Import list of objects on the Data tab in Settings. Fill in Name, Owner, phones and Address, and set Device. A device template can fill some fields. Write the operator's steps on the Instructions tab.

Handle the first alarm.
4

Handle the first alarm

Trip a test zone on the panel. A new alarm row appears in the station PC's Messages list. Double-click it to see the owner, phones, address and instructions in the alarm window. Press Complete alarm or Defer alarm. The list keeps the event and your action.

AlarmFront lists every site together, including objects of the Stationary GSM and Stationary COM / TCP/IP types.

A small crew can cover the station

The program can process non-critical events automatically and forward alarms by SMS or Telegram to a single guard out on patrol. An optional check asks the operator to confirm they are at the desk every half hour.

A record behind every response.

A record behind every response

The log records who accepted or deferred each alarm and their comment. The alarm causes dictionary feeds the false alarm statistics. Export reports to CSV or Microsoft Excel.

Alarm window with instructions

When a signal arrives, the alarm window gives the operator the object and its owner, the phones and address, and the instructions written for that site. The window can be printed.

Object card and site plans

Each object (an account, in US terms) has a card with tabs from General and Instructions to Action Plan and Forwarding. Add a plan with partitions and zones to see the alarm's location.

Remote arm and disarm

Arm or disarm an object, or change the keypad password, from the operator's desk. Commands go out by SMS, DTMF or a voice call. The Schedule tab sends them at set times.

Connection control, 3 methods

The program can send an SMS and wait 5 minutes for a reply, call with 3 retries on the main number and 3 on the backup, or track time since the last message. You can switch checks off for weekends and holidays.

Built-in web server

Clients, dealers and technicians can view their sites in a browser: the card, message list with the last photo, statistics and a live map. Each logs in with a password and sees only their objects.

Parameter monitoring

For a boiler room or water well, track temperature and pressure, relay state or SIM balance per object on a graph. An out-of-bounds value raises an alarm.

Inbound channels and protocols

The protocol names below are the source types you select in the program.

SMS

Two-way text messages through a USB or COM modem that speaks standard AT commands.

ETSI GSM 07.05 / 07.07

Voice calls

Incoming voice calls from panels count as alarm signals.

Several modems

Split modems by role. The sample setup in the product FAQ uses 4.

Contact ID from a receiver

Source types Surgard Contact ID and Ademco 685, read from the serial output of a hardware alarm receiver.

RS-232 / RS-485

SIA and Silent Knight

SIA, Silent Knight 9000 and its Expanded variant.

Regional formats

Egida, Navigard MCDI, Nita Dozor, Safe Link Radio, Altonica Rif Patrol.

ASCII

A source type for equipment that prints lines of text to the port.

Contact ID over IP

Ademco Contact ID and Surgard Contact ID arrive directly over LAN, WAN or VLAN without a hardware receiver.

MQTT

MQTT is in the TCP/IP source list for IP devices and sensors.

ASCII text

The core program handles plain text over TCP.

Binary traffic needs the add-on

Vendor protocols

Navigard, Jablotron Cloud, Wolf Guard, AXIS EN, Ksytal.

SMPP

Text messages arrive through an SMPP gateway over the Internet.

E-mail

Alarm messages can arrive by e-mail.

HTTP / HTTPS

Devices post events to the web server inside the program.

Hardware receivers on a COM port and binary TCP traffic each use an add-on.

Who is AlarmFront for?

For security company owners

Run your response crews from an in-house monitoring desk. Each crew has a status: Available means it can take the call; On the way and On site tell the operator where the others are.

For utility dispatchers

One dispatcher can watch readings from your heating networks and generators alongside guarded sites, and export the numbers for reports.

For installers and integrators

Selling panels? Set up the station on your customer's PC and hand it over with the hardware already entered.

Frequently Asked Questions

Alarm panels at customer sites report to one staffed station. The operator decides how to respond, from calling the owner to sending a crew. AlarmFront turns a Contact ID code or an SMS text into a named site on the operator's screen.

A central station is a staffed room that takes alarm signals from many sites. The hardware is an alarm receiver or a modem plus a PC. The software gives each person a role: Administrator, Operator or Client.

The UK security industry calls the same station an alarm receiving centre, often shortened to ARC. Trained operators receive and assess alarm signals there.

CMS stands for central monitoring station. It watches signals from protected sites around the clock and acts on them. The same desk can follow vehicles with GPS trackers and store their routes.

Choose the program that reads what your panels send. Check the channels and protocols, how operator actions are logged, which reports you can export and how remote users get in. Try it on your own hardware before the brand name decides anything.

It usually means a permit required by a state or city authority, or in some countries a national one, from companies that install or monitor alarms. Rules depend on the jurisdiction, so ask your local regulator before taking the first client. This is not legal advice. A software license is separate.

Yes. Customers report it working with Siemens MC35, iRZ TU31 and Teleofis RX-101, among others. An SMPP gateway delivers the same messages without a modem.

If your panel can text or call a phone number, give it the station modem's SIM number. A 2G-only panel or modem stops working wherever the carrier retires its 2G network. Check both devices' network generation before choosing GSM.

Start with one PC and the default SQLite database. As your object count grows, move to a server database: MySQL or SQL Server, or PostgreSQL, which we recommend for big volumes. Add workstations as Local Network Client or Remote Internet Client, with one PC set as Server.

Yes. The download on this page is the trial: 30 days with up to 10 objects. You can connect a modem and send test alarms from real sites.

Installed. The program and database stay on your Windows PC. Remote users connect through this PC, which needs a static IP address and administrator setup. SSL is optional.
